Primary Meter

Primary meters are installed if commercial customers elect to have power delivered at distribution voltages such as 12.5 kV. Residential customers are generally billed for kilowatt hours (kWH) used. Commercial and industrial customers may additionally be billed for demand charges and power factor charges.

The utility can use CTs to measure and voltage-measuring transformers (PTs) to transform current and voltage levels to smaller voltages and can use a standard meter to measure usage.

Feeder Manager uses the TRANSFORMER model name on this class when it can be identified as a load point. The PRIMARYMETER model name is included only for backward compatibility.
