Groupings
The Groupings tab gives you access to all your DHFC network component groupings.
Existing Groupings
Click an existing grouping to view its attributes. You can also utilize the filter to find the appropriate grouping. The default filter field searches both Name and Description, and the Advanced drop-down provides the ability to search for deprecated groupings.
After locating the grouping, you can perform the following actions:
-
Edit: Make changes to the grouping fields, then click Save.
IMPORTANT:-
If you change a field to a different value, the Validate & Save button becomes active. If you change that same field back to its original value, the Validate & Save field becomes inactive. This is because the application recognizes the field has returned to its original value, and there is no reason to save or validate.
-
If you edit any of the components within the grouping, you must remove the components and then re-add them for the changes to take effect in the grouping. For example, let’s say your grouping contains an amplifier. And, you edit that amplifier’s forward input from 870 MHz to 1000 MHz. The grouping does not know about that change until you remove the amplifier and then re-add it. At that point, you see the updated attribute at the grouping level. Always click Validate & Save after changing the grouping.
-
-
Copy: This copies the current grouping and then awaits edits. This is a helpful tool to create a new grouping that is similar to an existing one. After you click Copy, the application appends the word “(copy)” to the Name. Then, make edits as needed and Save. If you do not make edits and Save, the copied grouping is discarded.
-
Delete: This deletes the current grouping. After you click Delete, click Yes to confirm or No to stop the delete process. If you click Yes, there is no undo for deleting a grouping.
-
Edit Grouping Components: This opens another dialog in which you can add or remove components to the grouping.
New Groupings
Click the Add New icon to get started.
-
Identification
-
Name: Name of the grouping.
-
Description: A short description of the grouping.
-
Catalog Id: This is a GUID. When creating a new grouping, a new GUID is created for you. The application creates a new GUID even if you copied an existing grouping to get started.
-
Is Deprecated: Select this toggle to mark the grouping as deprecated.
-
-
Edit Grouping Components: To add or remove components, follow these steps:
-
Click Edit Grouping Components. A new dialog appears.
TIP: If the dialog is cropped by the Solution Center interface, expand the size of the dialog until you see all the components types listed along the top. -
In the top banner of components, click the desired component type.
-
Search for the component.
-
The Search field queries the Manufacturer and Model Number fields for the component.
-
The Advanced Search queries voltage and amperage.
TIP: To search for all components, click once in the Search field, then press Enter. This returns all components of that type. -
-
Click the component once, then click Add Item.
-
Optionally, you can set a component as the default. Click the added component once, then click Make Default.
IMPORTANT: Regarding nodes and segmentable nodes, only one type of node is allowed to be the default. In other words, if you have chosen a default standard node, then you cannot also have a default segmentable node (and vice versa). Further, if you have a default standard node and then go ahead and select a default segmentable node anyway, the standard node is no longer the default (and vice versa). -
Continue to add components as needed.
-
Click OK to close the Grouping Components dialog.
-
At the bottom of the Groupings tab, click Save.
