Overview of the DHFC Environment

The core architecture of DHFC comprises a connected series of applications that work in unison to provide an editing experience outside of ArcGIS Desktop. There are five main components:

  1. The Geodatabase

    1. This holds the geospatial data and is the final system of record for coax features.

  2. ArcGIS Server

    1. This is the intermediary application between the Geodatabase and the DHFC Client Application that provides DHFC access to the geospatial data.

  3. The DHFC Catalog Service

    1. This provides the DHFC Client Application required (non-GIS specific) configurations such as specs, groupings, and project files. It is managed in Solution Center.

  4. The Solution Center DHFC Plugin

    1. This is the configuration hub for components, groupings, project files, and the client application itself.

  5. The DHFC Client Application

    1. This is the actual desktop application where the user performs design work
