RFNode and the PortConfiguration Field
The PortConfiguration field is generated by the application, and it is list of ports with active legs such as A B C D E F.
PortConfiguration has two elements:
-
A port index, which represents the location of the port on the housing (this never changes). These are the numbers in gray boxes in the following image.
-
A port label, which indicates which leg is served by a given port. These are the letters in the following image (on a common 4–port node, ports E and F are power-only ports).
-
When written to the GIS, it would appear as the string, “A B C D E F.”
A user can change the leg labels assigned to a given port by using the Adjust Leg Label tool.
-
When end users change the leg labels, the labels certainly change, but the port index numbers remain the same.
-
Using the same example above, the port index and port labels look like the following in their default placement. When written to the GIS, it appears as the string, “A B C D E F.”
-
If the user changes the A and D ports, it looks like the following image. When written to the GIS, this appears as the string, “D B C A E F.”
