Fusible Disconnect Switch Type

3-Pole Polyphase—600 Vac Maximum—50–60 Hz

Class 8538 and 8539 Type S combination starters combine the requirements of motor overload and short circuit protection into one package. These starters are manufactured according to NEMA standards and are UL Listed (some Form numbers may not be listed—contact the Customer Care Center). Class 8538 and 8539 combination starters operate at 600 Vac maximum, 50–60 Hz, and can be provided with one of four overloaded relay styles (refer to General Information).

The MCP adjustable trip range is determined by the suffix of the circuit breaker catalog number. This table indicates the trip range which corresponds to a given suffix number. The MCP motor circuit protector should be adjusted to a level just above locked-rotor current of the motor. This setting will provide optimum overcurrent protection for the motor.
