Circuit

A Circuit represents a "Chain of Glass" from one location to another. This chain of glass should have a port on either end and strands of fiber in between that are connected end to end. Circuits may pass through the ports within a Patch Panel, but they cannot pass through the electronic portion of a network device or element. There is a plan to add future functionality to Fiber Manager to support SONET rings and other ring architectures in the network.

Description

CircuitName

text

Yes

This should be a unique name that can be controlled through a domain value, typed into the field each time, or added through a custom autoupdater. The CircuitName attribute is required to display the circuit in the Circuit Manager tool.

CircuitLength

double

No

This stores the value of the entire length of the circuit. This value can be captured using an OTDR device or it may even be an estimated value from a GIS trace.

CircuitGroup

text

No

This field stores an attribute in the Circuit Table that is used to group sets of Circuits together. This field is used to create a subset of displayed circuits in the Circuit Manager tool. Despite the name for this field, this does not have anything to do with data or traffic moving over the fiber network.

CircuitOTDRAttn1310

double

No

This stores the optical loss (attenuation) for a complete circuit in the 1310 NM wavelength. This value can be collected using an OTDR device. The data from the OTDR report needs to be transcribed by hand into this field. This is by design, because OTDR traces frequently require some user interpretation to extract the data accurately. In some cases, false readings or fiber anomalies need to be checked or accounted for. An automated transfer of data would miss this important data QA and verification step.

CircuitOTDRAtten1550

double

No

This stores the optical loss (attenuation) for a complete circuit in the 1550 NM wavelength.

OTDRDate

date

No

This is the data in which the most current OTDR data was collected. This value helps a consumer of the data evaluate the currency of the data that exists in the GIS.

CircuitPowerMeterAtten1310

double

No

This is the attenuation in the 1310 NM wavelength that was collected using a power meter. This is a different type of test from an OTDR and can provide differing results. This is not a required field and can be deleted if necessary.

CircuitPowerMeterAtten1550

double

No

This is the attenuation in the 1550 NM wavelength that was collected using a power meter. This is a different type of test from an OTDR and can provide differing results. This is not a required field and can be deleted if necessary.

PowerMeterDate

date

No

This is the date on which the most current Power Meter data was collected. This value helps a consumer evaluate the currency of the data that exists in the GIS.

EmergencyContactName

text

No

This is the name of a person that should be contacted in case of an outage or an issue with a portion of the circuit in the system. This is not a required field and can be deleted if necessary.

EmergencyContactPhoneNum

text

No

This is the phone number of a person that should be contacted in case of an outage or an issue with a portion of the circuit in the system. This is not a required field and can be deleted if necessary.

GlobalID

GlobalID

Yes

This field contains a unique number (GUID) that is generated and maintained by ArcGIS. This value is used for all relationships in the ArcFM data model and is required for Fiber Manager to function properly.

FiberParent

GUID

Yes

This field contains the GlobalID of the parent object to the current object.

ThisFiberClassModelName

text

Yes

This field stores the class model name assigned to the feature class on which the field resides. It is used in conjunction with the FiberParentClassModelName field to determine the GlobalID that will be placed in the FiberParent field.

FiberParentClassModelName

text

Yes

This field stores the class model name assigned to the feature class that is the parent of the class on which the field resides. It is used in conjunction with the ThisFiberClassModelName field to determine the GlobalID that will be placed in the FiberParent field.

FiberChildClassModelName

text

Yes

This field stores the class model name of a child object to the object on which the field resides.
