Operational Maps in ArcMap
For users to take their operational data offline, you need to create runtime databases (replicas) on a mobile device from sync-enabled feature services via ArcGIS Server. You should have already created an operational map during online viewer configuration, but if you need to create additional operational maps, refer to Configure Operational Maps in ArcMap for further details. Feature services for offline operation have additional requirements. Refer to Esri’s Prepare data for offline use to establish an awareness of the data requirements for sync capability on feature services.
Offline Data Preparation
Add Global IDs on all relationship classes to be used in ArcFM Mobile by using Esri's Migrate Relationship Class tool. If your relationships are currently maintained via a user-managed field rather than an Esri-managed field, you don't need to migrate your relationship classes to use Global IDs.
Note that offline operational maps have some limits on layer symbology, and some advanced symbology supported in online maps is not supported in offline maps.
Map Requirements
- To create replicas for individual regions, a polygon feature class is used. It can be included in a feature service with other point and polyline features, or it can be in a map service on its own and based on a different data set, such as landbase.
- Ensure your geometric network maps are valid. The Esri Verify and Repair Geometric Network Connectivity (Data Management) tool helps verify your geometric network.
- Remove all annotation feature classes, which are not supported on feature services by Esri at this time.
- Remove all joins from feature classes, including FM 2.0 joins.
- In ArcFM, under Layer Properties > Fields, ensure that all the fields you want to view are visible, or the feature service absolutely won't recognize them.
- Any field that is a unique identifier (such as GlobalID) or is a foreign key in a relationship must be visible.
- For cases in which multiple layers point to the same source feature class, each of these layers must have a unique name, and they must not be shown at the same zoom scale. Otherwise, ArcFM Mobile in offline mode cannot distinguish the data that corresponds with each layer.
Feature Service Publishing
For instructions, follow Esri’s Publishing a map service steps. In place of Step 7, however, perform the following:
-
Under Operations allowed, select only Query and Sync. All other choices should remain unchecked.
Proceed with Step 8 of Esri’s instructions.
Feature Access must be enabled in your map service to allow querying of features, replica creation, and syncing of data in ArcFM Mobile when changes are made in the database.
