Sideload Data

The default model for deployment of offline data to mobile devices is for users to download offline packages directly to their devices using ArcFM Mobile. Since this model might not be feasible for some large organizations, due to change management and network bandwidth limitations, sideloading can help mitigate those difficult situations. ArcFM Mobile does not in and of itself provide sideloading functionality, but an admin can use a file management process, similar to what is shown in the following diagram. This diagram is specific to deployments of ArcFM Mobile for Windows, but the same concepts apply to all platforms.

The key to sideloading is designating a single staging machine, regardless of the mobile platform of end users. Use ArcFM Mobile on this machine to download the packages you intend for a target group of users. Deployment is then a matter of copying these packages to the mobile devices of the target group. The method of deployment to devices varies by mobile platform, as discussed in the topics of this section.

IMPORTANT: Sideloading is intended only for new rollouts of ArcFM Mobile. Do not sideload to a mobile device that already has ArcFM Mobile in production, unless you first delete the offline data (detailed in the topics of this section) from the device.
