Offline packages help you group together any combination of replicas, tile packages, and vector tile packages into one convenient container. Offline packages do not contain the actual components, but rather pointers to those components. ArcFM Mobile displays the list of available packages to users and employs these pointers to download the relevant components for offline interaction.

Mobile config
The Offline Packages tab shows all offline packages available for users’ devices.

In the event that you want to configure different offline packages to automatically download for users onto their devices, you can use the Auto Download toggle. When users start ArcFM Mobile for the first time, any offline packages that have this toggled on are automatically downloaded with no interaction needed from users, provided that they have permissions to download items in the package, according to Portal for ArcGIS group policy.

If users already have a replica and/or tile package downloaded, then updates to those items are downloaded automatically when changes are available, based on a 10-minute refresh interval. This automatic update happens regardless of the Auto Download toggle status. Additionally, if users are in the field on a cellular connection and the download or update size is over 100 MB, they are prompted to confirm the download to avoid potentially unwanted charges.

IMPORTANT: We do not recommend configuring multiple packages for auto-download that contain large TPKs.

Create Offline Packages

  1. Click the Add New button and type an appropriate Display Name, which is required.

  2. If you want to include replicas in this offline package, click Edit Replicas, select one or more from the list, and click Apply.
  3. Additionally, if you want to include tile packages in this offline package, click Edit Tile Packages, select one or more from the list, and click Apply.
  4. Click Save.

IMPORTANT: Users can access this offline package only if they are members of the Portal for ArcGIS group that has access to replicas it contains.

TIP:
  • There is no limit to the number of replicas or tile packages you can include, but keep in mind that the client has to download all those that you include. For efficiency, you should exclude unnecessary replicas and tile packages.

  • If an administrator removes a replica or tile package that was a part of a previously downloaded offline package, the next time a user launches the client application, the item is removed from the local client. If a replica or tile package is added to an existing offline package that has already been downloaded, the local application automatically downloads the new item upon the next launch.
