Construction As-Builting Configuration

As mentioned in the Markup Configuration topic, markups allow users to place graphics on the map in ArcFM Mobile and send them back to the GIS, allowing for permanent changes in the geodatabase.

ArcFM Mobile users with the As-Builter license have access to the My Work tab in the Mobile app. For each user this tab lists construction jobs that have been assigned. Typically, there is a Designer XI design associated with a job. When the user opens a job, the design is displayed and all markups by the user (known as construction as-builting) also become associated with the job.

There are several fundamental distinctions to note about regular markups vs. as-built markups:

  • As-built markups are available only when a construction as-builting job is open.

  • The user must be assigned the As-Builter role (refer to the User Functionality Matrix article on myArcFM for more information) to create as-built markups, whereas only the Redliner role is needed for regular markups.

  • While creating as-built markups, the user can’t have multiple markup sessions proceeding on different maps. If the user switches between maps while an as-builting markup sketch is in progress, captured markups and the design appear on those other maps, but the user can’t manipulate those markups until switching back to the map on which the markup sketch was initiated.

Construction as-builting also supports:

  • Displaying a Designer XI design that is associated with a construction as-builting job.

  • Opening a construction as-builting job from a work location on the map.

  • Opening a construction as-builting job directly from a workforce management app.
