Cross Section Annotation Feature Class
This annotation feature class is used to display the contents of a conduit. Even if you do not wish to display annotation, this class must exist in the geodatabase (it does not have to be added to the map). You can further configure the annotation's contents list and the information displayed within it. The following is an example of cross-section annotation in ArcMap:
IMPORTANT: You may have numerous annotation feature
classes in your map. However, only one annotation feature class can
have the model name CROSSSECTION assigned to it. The annotation feature
class with the model name CROSSSECTION respects the tools and functions
of Conduit Manager, while other annotation feature classes can be
used for various purposes such as labeling or providing reference
information on the map.
Create the Cross Section Annotation Feature Class
- In ArcCatalog, right-click the geodatabase or dataset and select New > Feature Class.
- Type a name and alias for the feature, then select ArcFM Annotation feature from the drop-down list.
- DO NOT CHECK LINK ANNOTATION BOX. Relate the annotation
feature class to the conduit feature class AFTER the annotation feature
class is created. If this box is checked during creation, a label
engine is added to the annotation feature class that is used for creating
text annotation features. Conduit Manager cross-section annotation
contains grouped graphic elements and leader lines that need to be
managed independently of the label engine.
- Click Next.
- Type a Reference Scale (e.g., 1,200) and select the appropriate map units. The annotation font size can be altered only by adjusting the Reference Scale.
- Click Next and accept all further default settings.
