Access Control

Each operational map provides you with the ability to review the level of access users have to the selected map. For each map, you can view the map ID, portal item ID, its access level, and the groups with which it is shared.

For maps that are not federated through Portal for ArcGIS, all fields except the Operational Map ID are blank. The ID can be copied to the clipboard and pasted for tracking or querying purposes.

  • Operational Map ID: an identifier for the mapping service.

  • Portal Item: the identifier of the map in Portal for ArcGIS. In the event that multiple maps in Portal for ArcGIS have been created for the same URL, ArcFM Mobile selects the first one it encounters. This identifier can be pasted into the URL in Portal for ArcGIS (the portal item ID portion of the URL) to help determine the exact map being referenced by the app.

  • Access Level: shared, public, or organization. If this is set to public or organization, the Groups shared with field is either empty or contains meaningless entries that should be ignored.

  • Groups shared with: the identifier(s) of the Portal for ArcGIS groups with which this map is shared.

For maps that are federated through Portal for ArcGIS, additional fields are populated with information that can be copied to the clipboard.

To locate information about a specific user, follow these steps:

  1. Start typing part of the name — first or last — to see suggestions provided below the drop-down.

  2. Click a name from the drop-down to view access details.

  3. A green checkmark on the left indicates the user has access to the map. Hovering your cursor on the checkmark also provides access status.

  4. When you hover your cursor on the information symbol, a list of all the groups the user has access to is shown. The IDs preceded by asterisks match the IDs in the Groups shared with field.
