Trim and Connect Tool Configuration

Use these steps to configure the Trim and Connect tool according to your organization’s needs. The Trim and Connect tool is found in Solution Center under the Editor Maps tab. It is only available for configuration and use in electric domains.

IMPORTANT: The Trim and Connect tool is not applicable for Non-spatial Containment. The Trim and Connect tool configuration won't be visible in Solution Center for those using that Containment Model Configuration.
  1. Select your Operational Map from the drop-down to see the Trim and Connect tool in the vertical tabs.
  2. Select the Trim and Connect Tool Tab and the following user interface is displayed.
  3. Click the arrow next to Device Types to view the Select Devices list, which is organized by asset group. Any features with terminal configurations are not supported as placement features.
  4. Expand the asset group to view the list of supported asset types by clicking the small arrow next to an asset group.
  5. Select a check box to add the asset type to the list of device types.
    TIP: For more information, click the Help Tip button to show help tips for that asset type.
  6. Select your device in the Device Types list. It then populates junctions in the Junction Types list with a supported Junction-Junction rule within your Utility Network that also have supported Junction-Edge rules.
  7. Select the junctions in the Junction Types list and it populates a list of supported line types on which the Trim and Connect tool can place the junction and device features. Once you select a line type, the participating asset types are displayed in bold.
  8. Click Save, in the bottom right of the window, to finish your Trim and Connect tool configuration.
    IMPORTANT: If you try to save with any unconfigured device types (device types that don’t have at least one Junction Type or Line Type selected), a message is displayed stating that these will not be saved.

  9. The TrimAndConnectRadiusInMapUnits also have to be configured in the Electric Settings tab.
    1. Select either Distribution or Low Voltage from the ElectricDistributionTierName drop-down.
    2. Then type a value for the TrimAndConnectRadiusInMapUnits between 0.20 and 5.00. and click Save.
Once all desired configurations are completed, in Editor XI, the Trim and Connect tool performs the trim and connect edit on the configured Line Types with the Design Types configured in Solution Center.

In the case you want to delete a Trim and Connect tool configuration, click the Delete button shown to the left of the selected device in the Device Types list. Click Save to save the deletion, or click Cancel to undo the delete.
