Create a Replica

Replicas are used to create offline maps that mobile users can download and interact with on their devices. Consolidating deltas into the base replica allows any client applications to download just the replica file, rather than having to download the replica and all the deltas associated with it.

TIP: For performance reasons, keep replicas as small as possible. You can later group replicas together into a single Offline Package to help local clients download them within a single activity.

Replicas can only be created for reference maps that are sync-enabled. Make sure that Feature Access and Sync capabilities have been enabled on the map service.

IMPORTANT: If a map service is down, you may not be able to perform certain functions against it. When you see Down as the status, this could mean one of three things:

The map service is not currently running on the ArcGIS Server or cannot be contacted due to a networking issue. Double-check that the URL to the service is correct.
If your organization uses ArcGIS Portal/AGOL to secure your map services, the map service may require you to be logged in as an ArcGIS Portal/AGOL user. Ensure that you are logged in as an ArcGIS Portal/AGOL user with permissions to access the map service.
The service is actually unavailable at the moment.

To create a Replica, follow these steps:

In Solution Center, click the Mapping plugin > Operational Maps tab.
Along the left-hand side of the interface, click the existing Operational Map once to highlight it.
On the right-hand side of the interface, click Replicas, then click Create.
Type a short but informative Description.
If you click Save right now, the application creates a Replica for the entire published map. More likely, you want to isolate specific areas for the replica. To do so, use the Optional Region Configuration fields.
1. Select a map service that contains regional layers.
2. Select the layer and corresponding region features that you want to use for the replica.
3. In this example, a replica is being created for parcel lines for a specific Feeder Region.
Click Save.
Click Yes to confirm, or click No to cancel.
Allow the request to process. You can continue to work elsewhere in Solution Center and then return to check progress. The processing time depends on the complexity of the request.
