Create Searches

To create a search for use in the ArcFM Search tool follow the steps below.
  1. Access the Mapping plugin. On the Operational Maps tab, select your Operational Map from the list. Then click the Searches tab on the right side of the window.
  2. Click the Searches tab, then click the Create button to add a new search.
  3. Type a Display Name.
  4. Click Add new Searchable Layer and check the layers you’d like to add to the search. Then click Apply. The layers you selected display in the list of layers to search.

  5. Click the Edit button next to Fields under a layer name to edit the fields to filter your search. Click the checkbox next to a field name to include that in your search, then click Apply. Complete this for each of the layers in your list.
    1. Check the box next to Filter by Types if you want to filter your search by certain layer types. Types appears in the links above Fields. To edit the Types, click the Edit button. Then check the Types you’d like included in your search. Click Apply.

TIP: If you don’t specify any types or fields, the search defaults to searching in all types and fields. This type of search may be slow to return results and return thousands of results.
  6. Once you have finished editing the Fields and Types for your search, click Save.
  7. Your new search now appears in the Searches list.

From the Searches list you can delete or edit existing searches. Click the Delete button to delete a search. Click the Edit button to edit the parameters of the search. Once you are in the edit dialog, you can make changes to the search just like when first creating a Search. The Edit and Delete buttons work the same in this dialog to edit Types and Fields as well as deleting existing Searchable Layers as desired.

TIP: For new searches or edits to existing searches to appear in the ArcFM Search drop-down in Editor XI, you need to restart Editor XI if you had it open while making edits in Solution Center.
