Considerations and Requirements

As you might expect with a suite of applications that are robust and laser-focused on security, there are many moving parts in constant motion during a successful implementation of ArcFM XI. The first step in your ArcFM XI journey is familiarizing your organization with the ArcFM XI Series Architecture and Knowledge Base. The guide continues to grow into a comprehensive juggernaut of everything you need to know and have wondered about ArcFM XI. It contains topics related to tenants, Solution Center, the Utility Network (UN), cybersecurity best practices, and much more.

The next step is ensuring you have addressed the following considerations and requirements:

  1. Are you aware of the important role that Solution Center has in your configuration? Solution Center is the nucleus for configuring settings of all XI series applications.

  2. Are you at the supported version and license level of applications necessary for Feeder Services configuration? All the information is outlined in the Feeder Services XI Supported Versions article.

  3. How’s the health of your Utility Network data model? To ensure a smooth implementation of Feeder Services, your UN data model should adhere as closely as possible to configuration described in the ArcFM Utility Network Configuration Guide.

  4. Do you know how XI series licensing is handled? You need at minimum one Geodatabase Manager (GDBM) license because Feeder Services consumes GDBM action handlers as a part of its Geodatabase Region Resource (GRR) creation/update scheduling procedure. The single GDBM license satisfies all Feeder Services needs. It is perfectly acceptable if your GRR maintenance schedule overlaps with other GDBM procedures running for other applications. If you have multiple tenants, each tenant requires a GDBM license.

  5. Are you familiar with the purpose and use of a Geodatabase Region Resource (GRR)? GRRs are snapshots of a subnetwork. When you create a GRR, you are capturing the state of a subnetwork at a specific time.

  6. Do you have an SFTP server available and configured? Patch Integration with ADMS requires an SFTP server that can be monitored by the ADMS File Monitoring Service.

  7. Did you know that Schneider Electric has a dedicated ArcFM XI team constantly monitoring all things related to cybersecurity? Given the volatility and seemingly relentless number of cyberattacks companies and individuals experience every day, we secure your data as though its our own.
