Example Workflow
As an example, here is how to map ConductorBank to Electric Distribution Line:
-
Use the drop-downs to choose which Component should be mapped to which GIS layer. In this example, the Component is the ConductorBank and the GIS layer is Electric Distribution Line.
-
After a few seconds, the right-hand side of the interface updates to show all the Asset Groups within the GIS layer.
-
If this Table mapping satisfies all Asset Groups, you can move on to adding the fields. However, if this Table mapping only satisfies certain Asset Groups (but not all), you should edit the group list first. To do so, follow these steps:
-
Scroll up and down to view the Asset Groups. Click the X to eliminate a group from the Table mapping.
-
If you have removed an Asset Group and want to bring it back, click the button that says “Edit.” This opens a new dialog, which allows you to include previously eliminated Asset Groups.
-
Once finished, click the Back
arrow to return to the Table mapping.
-
Type the Designer field name. These fields have auto-complete functionality, so as you start typing, the field presents matching names.
IMPORTANT: There are two exceptions to the auto-complete functionality: AssetGroup and AssetType. You should still map them (both are mapped to Esri fields of the same names), but they do not present themselves as auto-complete options. -
Use the drop-down to choose the equivalent GIS (or Esri) field name.
-
Leave the Max Length at 0 (Feeder Services does not currently make use of field length rules).
-
Check the box to Import, and uncheck the box to Push to GIS (Feeder Services does not save back to the GIS).
-
If you need to delete a field, click the red X at the far right of the field mapping.
NOTE: Do you not see the red X? Your Solution Center dialog is likely too small. Expand the dialog until you see the X. -
Continue to Add Fields as described. Save often.
