Non-Spatial Unit Support in GRRs

Units are non-spatial objects (junctions for Devices and edges for ConductorInfo) that provide an additional level of granularity and control for Utility Network (UN) models. Contrary to the Geometric Network (GN), Units in the UN can be connected and part of the network topology. This means that a user can operate the normal position of an individual Unit to de-energize a given phase downstream of a switchable device.

  • As stated in the ArcFM Configuration for the Utility Network Whitepaper > Equipment Topology section, these Units should be used in the ‘Bank/Unit’ pattern. In this pattern, a spatial device representing the Bank contains the Units.

  • If the style of network is unbalanced, Units should be connected to the terminals of the device.

  • Units within Banks have two specific supported configurations

    • A single-phase Unit per phase specified on the Bank.

    • A single, three-phase Unit (if the Bank is three-phase) and a single, two-phase Unit (if the Bank is two-phase).
