Component to Asset Type Mapping for ArcFM UN
The ArcFM UN tracks each feature’s distinguishing trait at the Asset Type level and not the Asset Group Subtype level. To accommodate the ArcFM UN, there is an additional Asset Type mapping provided while working with Tables.

As an example, here is how to map Asset Types for a Switch with Terminals:
-
Use the drop-downs to choose which Component should be mapped to which GIS layer. In this example, the Component is the SwitchWithTerminals and the GIS layer is ElectricDevice.
-
After a few seconds, the right-hand side of the interface updates to show all the Asset Groups within the GIS layer.

-
By default, all Asset Groups are included. To edit the list, follow these steps:
Notice by Asset Types, the Asset Groups you checked are visible, but no Asset Types have been mapped yet.

-
Check the Asset Types you want to include.

-
Click Apply.
Now you can proceed to map the fields.
-
Type the Designer field name. These fields have auto-complete functionality, so as you start typing, the field presents matching names.
IMPORTANT: There are two exceptions to the auto-complete functionality: AssetGroup and AssetType. You should still map them (both are mapped to Esri fields of the same names), but they do not present themselves as auto-complete options. -
Use the menu to choose the equivalent GIS (or Esri) field name.
-
Leave the Max Length at 0 (Feeder Services does not currently make use of field length rules).
-
Check the box to Import, and uncheck the box to Push to GIS (Feeder Services does not save back to the GIS).

-
If you need to delete a field, click the red X at the far right of the field mapping.
Do you not see the red X? Your Solution Center dialogue is likely too small. Expand the dialog until you see the X.
-
Continue to Add Fields as described. Save often.
