Configuring the On-Prem Storage Service

To install and configure the Storage Service:

  1. Open a browser to the ArcFM Designer XI page.

  2. Under Downloads, click Designer Storage Service and download the installer.

  3. Execute the installer.

  4. To find the AppSettings.json file, click on Design Storage and see the site’s Basic Settings. The file path is listed in the window.

    Storage Service logs default pathC:\inetpub\wwwroot\DesignStorage\logs.

  5. Edit the AppSettings.json file in an application such as Notepad ++.

  6. Enter the text for these fields.

    • Organization name.

    • Storage location for the design files.

When configuring the storage location, make sure you type double backslashes in the folder path. Example:"StorageLocation": "C:\\FdrSvcStorageService\\StorageLocation".

IMPORTANT: Do not delete GRRs directly from the Storage Service location. Delete the files from Solution Center > Feeder Services > Mapping > Geodatabase Regions. See Delete Existing Geodatabase Regions for more information.

    • Application insights instrumentation key

This key is optional and supplied by Schneider Electric. It allows the application to copy the local Storage Service logs to the cloud-hosted Application Insights. For more information, see Microsoft Application Insights Overview. The benefit is quicker troubleshooting because the Schneider Electric team would already have the logs to analyze, and you would not need to supply them. Although customers cannot access the information within Application Insights, you can access the same exact logs locally in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DesignStorage\logs.

    • API for Services key with the Designer.Admin and Monitoring.Reporter roles

  7. Save the config file.

  8. In IIS, restart the website.

NOTE: If you are securing the Storage Service website with a self-signed certificate or a certificate issued by an internal certificate authority, it needs to be configured in the Client Configuration section of Solution Center.
