Data Migration Steps

Before migrating data, ensure that your XI model has been aligned with your 10.x model as instructed in the Data Model Changes step. Also ensure that you have exported the 10.x configuration as instructed in Exporting the ArcFM Fiber Manager 10.x Configuration.

  1. Make a copy of your 10.x database as the source for migration.

  2. Revert the copied 10.x database to non-ArcFM objects. Use ArcFM Solution Object Converter in ArcCatalog, with the “Convert to use Esri objects” option.

  3. Copy fiber asset data from the 10.x to the XI database.

    • For spatial data (features), append data to the appropriate XI feature class (Communications Line or Communications Junction), and set the appropriate asset group or asset type for each row.

    • For non-spatial data (related objects), append data to the matching XI table.

  4. Copy additional custom data from the 10.x to the XI database.

    • For non-spatial data (related objects), copy the table from one database to the other.

    • For spatial data (features), append data to the appropriate XI feature class (Communications Line or Communications Junction), and set the appropriate asset group or asset type for each row.
