Change the Display Fields of Fiber Strands

After the database objects are added to the map, you can change the Communications Line properties. This feature is the layer with the fiber cables in it. When you look at the fiber connections drop-down menu, the cables only show numbered strands of the fiber cables. This can make it hard to differentiate the strands.

In this example, each strand of Fiber Cable: 25, has numbered strands.

You can change the Display field for the Communications Line asset group so the strands use the Cable Name instead of a number. This can help keep track of each strand. In the ArcGIS Pro > Contents pane, right click Communications Line and select Properties. Under Display field, select Cable Name and click OK.

IMPORTANT: If this change is made after a map is published, it will need to be republished to reflect the changes.

After making the change, you can now see the names of each strand in the Fiber Connections tool.

See View Fiber Connections for more information.
