ULP Wired Communication

Description

The ULP wired communication option enables the MicroLogic Active control unit to share its dataset with an IFM, IFE or EIFE interface, and expose it to any supervisor with a client Modbus communication channel.

The ULP wired communication option is available for MicroLogic Active control units equipped with a BCIM module.

The MicroLogic Active control unit can be connected to:

  • An RS-485 serial line network with Modbus protocol using the IFM Modbus-SL interface for one circuit breaker with part number LV434000.

  • An Ethernet network with Modbus TCP/IP protocol using:

    • The IFE Ethernet interface for one circuit breaker.

    • The IFE Ethernet switchboard server.

    • The EIFE embedded Ethernet interface for MasterPacT MTZ drawout circuit breaker.

DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
  • Do not only rely on the circuit breaker status provided by ULP wired communication before working on or inside the equipment.
  • Do not only rely on the ERMS status provided by ULP wired communication. Use the blue ERMS LED to check ERMS status before working on or inside the equipment.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.

The following MicroLogic Active control unit data is available through ULP wired communication:

  • Device identification information for the MicroLogic Active control unit

  • Electrical network settings

  • Circuit breaker status

  • Circuit breaker trip cause

  • Circuit breaker ERMS status

  • Circuit breaker alarm status

  • Circuit breaker health state

  • Metering information

Prerequisites for Using ULP Wired Communication

The prerequisites to using ULP wired communication are:

  • The MicroLogic Active control unit hardware version must be greater than or equal to 002.000.000. Earlier hardware versions are not compatible and the MicroLogic Active control unit must be replaced.

  • The MicroLogic Active control unit firmware version must be greater than or equal to 004.000.000. Earlier firmware versions are not compatible.

  • The BCIM module must be installed on the back of the MicroLogic Active control unit.

  • The presence of the BCIM module must be configured. This configuration is done automatically when the BCIM module is embedded in a new circuit breaker. If the MicroLogic Active control unit is replaced, a manual configuration must be done on the MicroLogic Active HMI.

  • The MicroLogic Active control unit must be supplied by a non-SELV 24 Vdc power supply.

  • The BCIM module must be supplied by an SELV 24 Vdc power supply.
