Catalog Cache

The catalog cache speeds up the catalog downloading process. If a user requests to download the catalog, the application first checks the cache to see if the user version is actually older than the current cache on the server. If it is not older, then it does not initiate the download, as it is unnecessary. If it is older, the service sends the newer copy of the cache. Having a cached version available is much faster than downloading from the Azure-hosted database.

IMPORTANT: Always click Update Cache after performing any edits in the catalog service. When data are added, edited, or deleted in the catalog service, the changes are made to the Azure-hosted database. The cache does not know about these updates until you click the Update Cache button.
