Relate a CU to an Equipment Specification

In Designer XI, “equipment” refers to the electrical specifications of a component. For example, a transformer equipment specification might look like the following:

Rated kVA

High Side Voltage

Low Side Voltage

High Side Configuration

Low Side Configuration

15

12.5 kV Grounded Y

120/240 Volts

Single Phase - Line to Ground

Single Phase

The attributes in the table above are combined as an equipment specification. This equipment can then be related to any number of CUs.

While the same equipment can be related to many different CUs, a CU can be related to only one equipment specification.

Follow the steps below to relate equipment to a new CU.

  1. On the Catalog > Compatible Unit tab, click the new CU to highlight it in green.

  2. By Related Equipment, click the Edit button.
  3. Use the Search and Equipment Type fields to locate the desired equipment specification. Once found, the dialog provides details about the equipment and the CUs it is currently related to.
  4. Click Add to relate the CU to the equipment.

IMPORTANT: If the CU is already related to an equipment specification, clicking Add replaces the current equipment with the new equipment. Each CU is allowed to be related to only one equipment specification.
  5. Confirm you see the Related Equipment on the Compatible Unit tab.
TIP: You can also relate equipment and CUs from the Equipment tab if the desired CU is not already related to another equipment specification. Again, each CU is only allowed one equipment specification, and the Add button is not available if you try to relate equipment to an already-related CU.
