Print Layout Tab

When end users complete their design, they can wrap up and present their work on a printable map. The Print Layout tab is where you create and maintain the list of available print templates.

Page Tab

The Page tab is where you construct the look and feel of the final print. Here, you can:

  • Determine page size and orientation.

  • Add images, text, and elements.

  • Add a north arrow and scale indicator.

  • Add multiple maps that support independent scales, extent, and Design Styles.

  • Add a vicinity map.

Here, you can also delete layouts you no longer require, but keep in mind there is not an undo for the delete function.

TIP: If a layout already exists that has almost everything you require, use the Copy Template tool. This gives you a new copy of the existing template where you can make minor modifications.

Element Tab

Elements are the building blocks for layouts. For example, if all your layouts require a company logo, equipment list, or work order table, create them as elements. Then, you can use them repeatedly for many different layouts.

When creating a new element, you have the following options:

Element Type

Description

DynamicImage

This is a placeholder element for a picture. The end user is able to drag and drop an image from their local machine onto the placeholder. This is a good element for on site pictures or other images that vary from design to design.

InfoGrid

This allows you to build a table that appears on the layout. You determine the number of rows, columns, and general styling.

Map

This is where the design and basemap are located on the layout. The map typically takes up the majority of the real estate on the layout.

Overview

This is for an inset or overview map. This typically presents a zoomed out look for context, or it could be a zoomed in look for a congested area.

Scale

This provides a text scale to show a relative measure, for example, of 1 inch : 250 feet.

StaticImage

This is an image that cannot be changed by the end user. This is a good element for a company logo or another image that should be the same on all prints.

TextBlock

This provides a simple text block for the end user to provide additional content as needed.

TIP: If an element already exists that has almost everything you require, use the Copy Template tool. This gives you a new copy of the existing element where you can make minor modifications.

Here, you can also delete elements you no longer require, but keep in mind there is not an undo for the delete function.
