Create the Session Manager Workflow

Schneider Electric’s implementation team works with your company to configure an appropriate workflow that meets your business needs. Administrators have two options to create the Session Manager Workflow that best embodies your business logic and task flow.

The first option is to accept the out-of-the-box (OOTB) Session Manager Workflow provided with Editor XI. Session Manager is designed to work natively with this default workflow unless configured otherwise.

  1. Within Solution Center, in the Workflows plugin, click the Default Workflow Studio tab.

  2. Select Session Manager Workflow from the drop-down list. View the workflow diagram on the right side of the application.

  3. If you decide this default Session Manager workflow meets your needs, click the Assignment Types tab. Review the default assignment types to ensure they meet your needs. If you decide to accept the default assignment types, in the User Management plugin, select the Editor tab.

  4. Select each user in the list, and ensure each user has the appropriate role that matches assignment types. For example, a user who edits within Session Manager needs the Editor.GisEditor role assigned. Someone in the role of approval officer needs Editor.GisEditor as well as Editor.GisApproval.

The second option is to modify the out-of-the-box Session Manager Workflow.

  1. Within Solution Center, in the Workflows plugin, click the Default Workflow Studio tab.

  2. Select Session Manager Workflow from the drop-down list. View the workflow diagram on the right side of the application.

  3. If you decide this default Session Manager workflow does not meet your business needs, you can choose to click the Override in Tenant button to modify the default Session Manager Workflow. See the Default Workflow Studio and Override in Tenant topics to learn more.

  4. Click the Assignment Types tab. Review the default assignment types to ensure they meet your needs. If they don’t, create your own assignment types. Refer to the Assignment Types topic to learn more.

IMPORTANT: If you opt to create new assignment types, you must customize the OOTB Session Manager Workflow to include your new assignment types.

  5. In the User Management plugin on the Editor tab, for each name in the list, ensure they have the appropriate role that matches the assignment types you created. For example, a user who edits within Session Manager needs the Editor.GisEditor role assigned. Someone in the role of approval officer needs Editor.GisEditor as well as Editor.GisApproval. Read more about user roles and licenses under the User Management Editor Tab topic.

IMPORTANT: While it is possible to create a new, unique Session Manager workflow, if that new workflow has significant overlap with the OOTB Session Manager workflow, you could experience both workflows firing simultaneously. To avoid this, it’s recommended to choose the Session Manager Workflow from the Hosted subtab on the Default Workflow Studio tab, and click Override in Tenant. This process tells JobServices to use the new, custom workflow and ignore the OOTB workflow.
