Configure Markup to GIS

For additional information see the Editor XI Using Guide topic Markup to GIS.

Configuration of the markup palette is required for Markup to GIS to work properly. The desired ArcFM Mobile operational map should override the default palette on the organization’s markup type with the newly deployed markup palette.

Follow the steps below to configure Markup to GIS.

TIP: Before getting started, be sure an operational map is configured in the Mobile XI plugin.
  1. In the Editor XI Solution Center plugin, navigate to the Editor Maps tab and select your operational map. Then select Markup-to-GIS Schema Mapping on the vertical tab.

After selecting this tab, Solution Center displays the Configured Markup-to-GIS Schema Mappings form.

  2. Click the Add button to display a list of unconfigured markup palettes that can be used to map Markup features to Utility Network (UN) features. There may be multiple markup palettes available under a given markup type.

IMPORTANT: Once a markup palette has been configured in the Markup-to-GIS schema mapping, it is imperative this palette is not to be reused in other Mobile operational maps.
  3. Select at least one palette URL in the list and click the Create Schema Mappings button to begin the schema mapping process.
Once the mapping schema is created, a list of mapped Markup Palettes displays. You can delete a specific mapping schema by clicking the Delete button.
  4. To further modify the configuration to map to Utility Network features, click the Edit button. Your view changes to a matrix of drop-down lists that contain the domains for the Utility Network.

The left side of the mapping matrix details the schema of the Markup Palette and displays the symbology for Markup layers and Subtype mappings.

The right side of the mapping matrix displays the feature class, asset group, and asset type domains mapped for the Utility Network Operational Map under configuration.

Click the Edit button to change the settings for one of the subtype mappings. The display updates to show drop-downs for each of the feature class, asset group, and asset type domains.

The box drop-downs are populated with feature classes that have compatible Geometry Objects (i.e. Point, Line, Polygon).
