Enable Branch Versioning

Editor XI uses branch versioning to track edits to GIS data. This versioning method needs to be enabled on your enterprise database as well as all tables and relationships that comprise the database. For more information about versioning, see the Esri topic, Versioning types.

To enable versioning:

  1. In the Catalog pane, expand your enterprise database connection and select your feature dataset, i.e. ElectricNetwork.

  2. Right click and select Properties.

  3. In the left menu, click on Manage.

Feature Dataset Properties dialog showing versioning options

  4. Enable Versioning. Ensure that Branch and Editor tracking are also enabled. Click OK.

Enabling Editor tracking adds creation and last edited fields. Global IDs and Archiving are enabled by default.

  5. Find all the tables under your enterprise database connection. Tables display this icon . Right click on each table and repeat these steps to enable versioning on the tables.

  6. Find any relationships under your enterprise database connection. Relationships display this icon . Right click on each relationship and repeat these steps to enable versioning on the relationships.

NOTE: There are no relationships in the downloaded asset packages from the Import the Asset Package step.

  7. Save your project.
