Publish the Feature Service
A feature service is a data hosting service that allows you to interact with your configured tables, layers, and geometry data. This step shares the map data in ArcGIS Server so that ArcFM Solution Center and Editor XI can connect and interact with the data.
Feature Service Requirements
-
Ensure each feature class, table, and circuit relationship is included only once in the Contents pane of ArcGIS Pro.
-
Ensure there are no definition queries written against any layers in the map.
-
The Portal for ArcGIS user you’ve used to connect to your project within ArcGIS Pro must have a Publisher or Administrator role.
-
The published feature service must have the mapping, feature access, network diagram, version management, and Utility Network (UN) capabilities.
To publish the feature service:
-
In ArcGIS Pro, click Share > Web Layer > Publish Web Layer.
-
In the Share As Web Layer pane, under Item Details, enter the Name, Summary, and any Tags.
NOTE: Enter the name of the map you created in Connect an Enterprise Geodatabase to Your Project into the map properties window. The feature service name and map name must match. -
In the Share as Web Layer pane, Under Data and Layer type, enable Feature under Map Image. This allows you to share the map as a feature service.
-
In the Share As Web Layer pane, under Location, use the folder icon to select the location of your Portal folder. By default, the web layer is stored at the root level of your Portal content.
-
Ensure the proper URL of your Portal for ArcGIS is listed.
-
Click the database icon to the right of the Server and Folder field to create a data store on the selected server. The Manage Registered Data Stores pane opens.
In the Manage Registered Data Stores pane, click Add > Database.
In the Add data store dialog that opens, enter the connection details.
-
Enter the Title and Tags, then select the Portal Folder to store the data.
-
For Publisher database connection, click Import to open the local ArcGIS Pro Project folder. Select Database and choose the active database connection created with your new user.
-
Select the desired server to host your data store, then click Validate.
-
Choose the relevant groups for sharing, and then click Create.
-
-
On the Share As Web Layer pane, use the Share with option to choose the relevant groups for sharing.
-
Click the Configuration tab at the top of the pane.
-
Click the arrow to the left of Feature Properties at the top of the Configuration tab. Under Capabilities, enable Version Management.
-
To Finish Sharing, click Analyze.
Analyze checks the data for errors. See the Analyze your GIS resource article for more information about error and warning messages and how to clear them.
-
Once all error messages are resolved, click Publish. Once complete, a status message is displayed with a link to the Portal folder location.
