Gas Traces all rely upon Esri traces which consider squeeze-offs in the trace results. However, to get the trace results to return partial pipes (gas lines) that we highlight in the map, Schneider Electric created a proprietary line clipping algorithm that is layered onto the Esri trace capability. The result is gas traces that display partial pipes (gas lines) in the trace results.
