General Tips for Work Locations

When placing Work Locations, consider the following:

  • By default, Work Locations automatically number themselves in the order that you place them. In other words, the first one is “WL 1,” the second is “WL 2,” etc.

  • If you delete Work Locations, new ones do not “fill in the gap” of the missing numbers. For example, imagine you have four Work Locations (numbered “WL 1” through “WL 4”), and you delete “WL 3.” If you place a new Work Location, it is numbered “WL 5.” The application does not go back and fill in the missing “WL 3.”

    • For this reason, add Work Locations toward the end of the design. In the scenario above, you could always rename “WL 5” to “WL 3” to fill in the gap, but it would have been easier to let the application automatically number them. Further, it is particularly helpful to add Work Locations toward the end when using Start-to-End Assignment so that all the span Work Locations are numbered correctly the first time you click the Auto-Assign Work Locations tool.

  • You can move a Work Location. Right-click it on the map, then choose Move.
