Multiple Maps on One Canvas

You can have multiple maps on the same canvas. Typically, each map would use a different Design Style in order to see the design in two or three different themes. Or, you might want multiple maps in order to use different backdrops to display different details about the surrounding area. Either way, the ability to have multiple maps requires the configuration of Design Styles.

Do you not see the Design Style options? It might not be configured at your company yet. Talk to your administrative team to turn on this function, and if you have other questions, talk with your Schneider Electric account manager.

Add Maps

First, a print template can be configured to already have multiple maps. This occurs in Solution Center > Designer > Print Layout. Talk with your administrator if you need a pre-packed layout with multiple maps.

If you do not have multiple maps already in the layout, you can add more maps. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Print Element drop-down and choose a map element (the name of your map element differs from the following image).

  2. The new map appears in the center of the layout.

    • You can change the size of the map itself and clicking and dragging any of the blue nodes that surround it.

    • Further, to move the map, hover your cursor along the outer edge of the map, then click and drag it into a desired position.

Change Design Style

All maps (whether part of a pre-packaged layout or newly added) start with the default Design Style. As stated above, typically the point of having multiple maps is to be able to use different Design Styles or Backdrops on the same canvas. Thus, changing the Design Style is common.

To change the Design Style, follow these steps:

  1. Click the map once to highlight it. You should see a dotted line around the map and blue nodes at the corners.

  2. Along the left-hand side of the application, click the Maps pane.

  3. Use the drop-down to change the Design Style. While here, you can also change any of the on/off toggles, the Reference Layers, and the Backdrop.

IMPORTANT: While on the Print tab, the Maps pane is active only when a map is selected on the canvas. If other elements such as images or text boxes are selected, the Maps pane is empty.
