Generic Line Component

A Generic Line Component (GLC) is a generic feature against which many different kinds of CUs can be assigned. It allows you to place line features that are not necessarily a part of your design, but can be helpful references for the crew. For example, you might want to sketch in cathodic protection (CP) bond wires for reference.

Sketching

  • Click in the map to place a new GLC. Each click adds a vertex, and a double-click finishes the sketch.

  • GLCs are not a part of the design network, so they do not snap to existing features. They do snap to each other.

  • See the topic Non-Drawn CU and Generic Component Filters to learn more about finding GLCs within the CU Search.
