Send to Placement
Send to Placement is a time-saving tool that allows you to take an existing CU in the Project pane and sketch it again in the design. It is particularly helpful when you want to re-use a Macro CU that you modified.
For example, imagine you place a CU in your design.
Then, using the Add an Install CU tool, you add several kinds of Non-Drawn CUs to represent supporting components in the field.
Further, in the Component Information pane > Attributes, you add several attributes not contained in the equipment specification.
You move on with your design, and later, you need to use the same
Modified Macro CU in another part of the design. In the Project pane,
hover over the CU, then click the Send to Placement
tool.
This tool sends the bundle of CUs and their attributes to the sketch tool, and your next click places the same Modified Macro CU, complete with all the Non-Drawn CUs and attributes you added to it previously. Subsequent clicks continue to place the same Modified Macro CU. Further, it persists with that component type until you change it.
-
The Send to Placement Tool does not support Riser, Guy, Service Point, Attachment, or a stand alone Non-Drawn CU.
-
When you are ready to stop using the Modified Macro CU you previously “Sent” to Placement, there are two ways:
-
Change to a different CU for the same component type. For example, if sketching a vault structure CU, change to a different structure CU.
-
If you want to keep using the same CU (but without the added Non-Drawn CUs and attributes), use the CU Search to find the same CU again. For example, find the exact same vault CU you previously modified. This clears the pre-saved Non-Drawn CUs and attributes, allowing you to sketch a “clean” version of the CU.
