Flip Duct Bank View within Conduit Configuration

When you edit the duct configuration within the ArcFM Conduit Configuration dialog, you need to take into account which of the related duct bank diagrams should accept the changes as seen in the dialog, and which should flip in order to be the opposite numbering. In other words, how do your duct edits change the related diagrams on both sides of the conduit?

For example, in the following image there is a conduit with 9 ducts in a 3 x 3 arrangement. This conduit connects manhole MH200 and MH201. Currently, the ducts are numbered correctly, where the duct numbers in MH201 are opposite that of MH200, which is what would be true if field crew visited these manholes.

Now, imagine you started editing the duct configuration in the ArcFM Conduit Configuration dialog. In this example, you move the bottom row down to reflect the actual installation location in the field.

When you apply these edits, how should the related diagrams react? Notice, you have three choices:

The Flip Duct Bank View choices are related to the manholes.

  • The top choice flips MH200:

  • And, the bottom choice flips MH201:

Using the example above, these choices would perform the following actions:

  • Flip Duct Bank View, Underground Facility MH200. This means that MH200 is flipped, and MH201 changes to match the numbering as seen in the dialog above. In other words, it would look like the following image. Notice how MH201 looks exactly like the ArcFM Conduit Configuration dialog, and MH200 was changed to be the opposite numbering.

  • Use the Conduit Configuration for Both Views. This means both related diagrams change (if needed) to match the numbering as seen in the dialog above. In other words, it would look like the following image. Notice how both manholes look exactly like the ArcFM Conduit Configuration dialog.

  • Flip Duct Bank View, Underground Facility MH201. This means that MH201 is flipped, and MH200 changes to match the numbering as seen in the dialog above. In other words, it would look like the following image. Notice how MH200 looks exactly like the ArcFM Conduit Configuration dialog, and MH201 was changed to be the opposite numbering.

In short, when editing the diagram, consider which of the related duct bank diagrams should accept the changes as seen in the dialog, and which should flip in order to be the opposite numbering.

IMPORTANT: If duct bank diagrams have not been created for the selected conduit, the message “Duct Bank Does Not Exist” is displayed. The navigation tools and flip tools are not available if the duct bank does not exist.

Helpful Navigation Tools

In the ArcFM Conduit Configuration dialog, there are navigation tools to help you confirm locations of duct banks and conduit.

  • Click the Zoom button to zoom to the extent of either the duct banks or conduit.

  • Click the Highlight button to flash the location on the map briefly.
