Markup Information

To display the markup pane, click the Markups button. Be aware that only active markups are displayed. Each markup record displays its current status, who submitted the markup, the date it was submitted, and a number of operational choices. From the markup pane, you can filter markups based on your assigned work, all available work, markup type, and markup name. You can also assign, unassign, or complete a markup. For viewing specific markups on the map, there is functionality that allows you to zoom to a particular markup and show just that markup in the map.

TIP: If your markup Operational Map is ArcGIS for Portal-federated, refer to Esri’s Use ArcGIS Desktop with Your Portal topic to help you ensure that ArcGIS Pro is connected to the correct Operational Map.

When more than 50 markups are available, the Markups pane automatically displays only the first 50 records. Click the Load More button at the bottom of the pane to view the next 50 markups. This appends the next 50 markups to the end of the current list. This format allows for a quicker load time when numerous markups are available.

TIP: Search functionality filters on all markups (not just on the current page), however, the search results are not displayed in the same 50–item limit. If you perform a search with more than 50 results, all results are displayed on one page and it may take a few moments for the page to complete loading.

Refresh

If you want to refresh the list of markups immediately, click the Refresh button toward the top of the markup pane.

Show All Markups

Prior to showing all markups, click on the Zoom To, Pan To, or Show only this markup button under any markup record to load the map service into ArcMap. Then, to display all the markups currently listed, click the Show all markups button toward the top of the markup pane. The extent does not change, so you may need to zoom out or pan to see all the markups. Clicking this button clears out any definition queries that might be applied to each markup layer.

Select Multiple Markups

You can quickly select multiple markups using either your keyboard or mouse.

Keyboard Select

While holding down the Shift key, as you arrow down, each markup is selected until you let go of the arrow key. If any key is pressed without the Shift key held down, the selected group is no longer active.

Mouse Select

With a markup selected, when you hold down the Shift key and choose another markup, all markups between the first one you clicked and the last one are selected. You can select/deselect a markup by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the markup. If any key is pressed or mouse button clicked without the Ctrl or the Shift key held down, the selected markups are no longer active as a group.

Show Only This Markup

For any Markup record, click the Show Only This Markup button to view only these markups on the map. The map then pans to the location of the markup. Clicking this button places a definition query on each markup layer on the map.

Filter and Search

TIP: The Search function filters on all markups, not just those visible on the current page. If you perform a search with more than 100 results, all results are displayed on one page and it may take a few moments for the page to complete loading.

  1. From the Filter by Assignment drop-down, select the assignment filter you want to apply. From that list, My Work filters by work that’s assigned to you, Available Work shows all unassigned work, Assigned Work displays work that’s assigned to someone, and Current Session lists markups assigned to your current session.

  2. Click the All Types drop-down to filter results by markup type.

TIP: The options in your list may look different from what shows in the list above.

  3. Type in the search field to locate specific markups by name.

  4. At this point you can click Assign to Me if you are going to perform the work. You can also unassign the job or complete it.

Select Markups by Map Selection

After you draw a rectangle over a section of the map, click this button to have markups selected based on that map selection, then click Search.

If you type any search criteria, it is applied to the map selection.

Zoom To

For any Markup record, click the Zoom To button to zoom to its location on the map. The extent is changed to encompass all markup items, but it does not zoom closer than 1:800.

Pan To

Publishes in Mobile config, Mobile Tools, Desktop using, EXI

For any Markup record, click the Pan To button to pan to its location on the map. The extent does not change.

Assign/Unassign/Complete

The Assign To Me, Unassign, or Complete buttons can be used to change the status of markups. Logged-in users can assign markups to themselves that are either unassigned or assigned to another user. You must have a markup selected in the Markup pane to complete any of these tasks below.

To assign a Markup to yourself, click the Assign To Me button.

To reassign a markup that is currently assigned to someone else, click the Assign To Me button. After a moment, the markup is reassigned.

Once assigned, a markup can be unassigned if it should be returned to the pool of available markups. To do so, click the Unassign button. You cannot unassign markups that are not currently assigned to you.

The markup can also be completed by clicking the Complete button.

Select Yes to complete the markup.

If you select No, the markup remains assigned. If you select Yes, the following things happen:

  • The markup is removed from the list.

  • The markup features are removed from the map and the app.

  • A notification is sent to the app that markups have been closed.

Create Session

Sessions created from markups in Editor XI can be either added to a current session or used to create a new session.

Click the Create Session button on either a markup that's assigned to you or on an available markup. This automatically creates a session with that markup assigned to it. The session automatically opens and pans to the markup when the version finishes switching. The markup remains associated with the session until it is completed. When a session is deleted, the markup is visible in the Markups pane. If it was assigned to you, it is available in My Work. Otherwise it’s visible in Available Work.

To create a new session for a markup, the current session must be closed before clicking Create Session.

Photos in Markups

Photos can be added to markups in ArcFM Mobile, which can then be viewed and downloaded from Editor XI.

The camera icon on a markup indicates photos are included with the markup. Click the Photo button (camera icon) to view a list of attached photos.

Click the arrow in front of items to display the photo thumbnails.

To view the photo in a separate window outside of the Markups pane, double-click on the photo you want to open.

Click the Zoom button to zoom to and flash the location of the photo in your map.

The Export button allows you to download the photos to a selected location. Click Export to display the Browse for Folder dialog and navigate to the location you'd like to save the photos. A message displays indicating when the files have been exported. They are exported as individual zip files for each photo that is attached to the markup. Zip files are named according to the photo name displayed in the Markups pane.

Alternatively, you can export photos from the Current Session Filter by Assignment drop-down. In this view, select your Markup, then click the Export button. The attached photos also export as individual zip file.
