Create Ducts

Ducts can be added two ways, either in the Duct Layout tab or the Duct List Tab.

If you’re interested in creating a new duct bank and its associated duct bank features, refer to the Create Duct Bank topic for instructions on how to create these features all together.

  1. To create a duct on a duct bank, right-click inside the duct bank on the Duct Layout tab.

Instead of right-clicking in the Duct Layout Editor, you can also right-click on the duct bank in the Attribute View.

  2. Input the attributes for the duct you are creating.

The two checkboxes indicate if the duct is Available or already Occupied. These are not mutually exclusive and both boxes can be checked to indicate if a duct is occupied yet still has space available for additional conductors.

TIP: When you add a conductor to a duct, the Occupied checkbox automatically checks itself if it is not already checked, and the Available checkbox automatically unchecks itself.

  3. Once you have typed all the duct attributes, click Create.

The new duct displays in the Duct List tab highlighted in green and preceded with NEW for easy identification. The duct bank to which the duct was added, displays in dark yellow font with MODIFIED prior to the duct bank name and information.

The new duct also displays in the Duct Layout tab with a bold green outline.

  4. Click Save toward the bottom the Layout Editor pane to save the new duct to your duct wall configuration. If you click Cancel, it will remove the duct you just created.

After saving, the NEW and MODIFIED text and associated coloring disappear, then the duct bank and duct appear in the list as normal.

Your newly added duct also appears in the ArcGIS Pro map and 3D Scene view.

TIP: The save button only applies your edits — it does not save the edits in your session.
