Component Info Pane

The Component Info pane displays various information about the selected component.

There are many areas of information on the pane. From top to bottom, these are:

  • The facility ID is provided directly under the Load Selected button (and in the Facility ID field) and is configured in Solution Center. You can double-click the pencil icon to edit the facility ID.

  • There are several component tools displayed to the right of the facility ID. A few of these tools have functionality specific to Component Information (such as Move Network Features, View Associations Mode, and Delete Component Tool) and are explained further in different topics within this section. That said, the following are a few more familiar tools that are used in other places within Editor XI and ArcGIS Pro and are worth noting:

    • The Select button selects all the other features or objects associated to your originally selected feature. In other words, this selects the items currently listed in the Component Information pane.

    • The Zoom To tool zooms to the selected features in the map.

    • The Flash button flashes the selected features in the map.

  • Component details are displayed in the first box and are based on the Network Category set of the feature. The display is slightly different among electric devices.

    • Attached Structures lists any UN Structural Attachments. Click the expander arrow to the left of Contents to display the list.

    • Contents lists any UN Containment Associations. Click the expander arrow to display the list. You can also add new contained units.

TIP: If there is a Delete button available for a containment unit, you can use it to delete the unit. This also deletes any features contained by the unit. After you confirm deletion, the Component Info panel is refreshed and the item is removed from view.

  • The phase and customer count are displayed under Customers.

  • The box directly below Customers provides a list of all downstream energized features that have the E:Service Point Network Category, per phase.

Add Contained Unit

There are three scenarios that warrant adding contained units:

  1. Add existing units as contained features for structure boundaries (excluding vaults [S:Vault network category]):

    • When you click the Add button, all features within the structure boundary polygon that have valid containment rules (and are not already contained) are displayed, and you are then able to add as many as you want to select.

  2. Add existing units as contained features for assemblies:

    • When you click the Add button, all features within a user-defined radius that have valid containment rules (and are not already contained) are displayed, and you are then able to add as many as you want to select.

  3. Add a new contained unit:

    • For banks (Electric Device) with the network category E:Has Connected Units or E:Has Disconnected Units, you can create one or multiple new units (Electric Junction Objects). The units are created and added as contents of the bank. If the bank has the E:Has Connected Units network category, the unit(s) are also connected to the banks terminals.

The following steps outline how to add a new contained unit:

  1. Click the Add button to add a new feature to be contained.

After clicking the Add button, a list of possible Asset Groups/Asset Types is shown based on the available features that can be contained according to Utility Network rules.

  2. Choose a template of the asset type that you previously selected, and edit the attributes before creating.

  3. To create multiples of this feature, use the Number of Rows arrows to increase the count. If you add more than 10, you are prompted to confirm creation of the new associations.

  4. Click Back to return to the main panel.

The following steps guide you through adding existing features as content:

  1. For structure boundary and assembly features, click the Add button to display the Add Content window. You are presented with a list of features that the feature can contain. This takes into account the structure polygon or the Search Radius that is configured on the ArcFM Options pane. If no features are found or if UN rules don’t allow any features to be contained, you receive a message to that effect.

  2. You can select one-to-many features to add as contained features. After you select the features and click Add, the selected features are added as contained features.
