Add Cable

Editor supports adding both spatial and non-spatial cables using separate menu actions. While both actions always appear in the right-click context menu as shown below, the viability of the add action is dependent on the type of cable and the Available property of the duct. You may add multiple cables or a single cable.

NOTE: If the duct is not marked as available, you cannot add a cable. Editor posts an error notification indicating the duct is unavailable. Adding a cable does not change the Available property of the duct but does affect the Occupied property. If you add a cable to a previously empty duct, its Occupied property is set to true and the visual display on the Layout tab is changed.

  1. To add a spatial cable:
    1. Start by selecting an existing cable in the map from which you want to use the same attributes.
    2. Now, select an available duct on either the Layout or List tab and right-click to select Add selected cable(s) menu option.

    3. The cable is added to the duct and the Cable Attributes dialog displays with all the same attributes applied as the first cable you selected.

    4. Click Save to apply the edit.
  2. To add a non-spatial cable:
    1. Select the duct from either the Layout tab or the List tab in Layout Editor.
    2. Right-click to select Add new cable menu option.

    3. Confirm or enter cable attributes in the Create Cable dialog.

    4. Click Create to finish adding the new cable.
