Operate Valves
When used on gas datasets, the Component Info tool displays the valve diagram and information on select device features (e.g. Valve, Controllable Tee, Regulator). The device Facility ID is displayed at the top of the dock pane. If a Facility ID is not available or configured within the Editor XI plugin, the feature object ID is displayed instead. The Model Names tab within the EXI plugin in Solution Center governs which features render this information. See Utility Network and UI Configuration for more information.

Component Info obtains a summary of pipes downstream if the device
is able to isolate the pipes. Click the Calculate Pipe Summaries button to calculate the number of meters, volume, and length of
pipe downstream of the device. Measurements are displayed in your
unit of choice (feet or meters), according to what is set in the EXI plugin.
Summarized pipe volumes are impacted by squeeze-offs on downstream pipes, and these changes vary by the placement of the squeeze-off. Squeeze-offs only change these summaries when the Honor Squeeze Off option is checked within the Trace Options.
There are five errors you could encounter while calculating the Downstream pipe summary. The errors are listed below in the order they are checked:
-
Editor configuration is missing.
The summary first checks if proper configuration exists. This error is rare but occurs when there is a missing Editor configuration.
-
Cannot compute pipe summary because the valve is closed.
The summary then checks if the valve is open. If it is closed, this error is displayed.
-
Pipe summary cannot be calculated due to dirty area in the gas network.
This error is displayed when dirty areas in the gas network have not yet been addressed.
-
Pipe summary cannot be calculated due to an error during tracing.
Any errors encountered while running the trace results in this error displaying.
-
The selected device cannot isolate any pipes.
This error displays when downstream pipes of a device can’t be isolated. More specifically, if the calculated volume is 0 (a diameter or length for a pipe set to 0, or if there is no pipe present could cause the volume to be 0), it causes this error.
