Run a Trace

There are several different kinds of traces that can be run in Editor XI as listed in the Tracing Tools topic. Follow the steps below to run a trace.
  1. On the ArcFM ribbon, select the trace you want to run from the drop-down for Electric, Gas, or Water Traces, or select a trace from the Named Trace drop-down.

For example, click the Electric Traces drop-down, then click Downstream.

Or, click the Named Traces drop-down, then click the appropriate choice.

TIP: If you are running a gas trace, squeeze-offs can be honored in your trace results. See the Squeeze-Offs topic to learn how to add squeeze-off points.
  2. The cursor changes to a flag icon. Click on the line you’d like to run the trace from.
    1. Electric traces on a feeder with more than one phase are prompted to select a phase on the phase trace wheel. See the Multi-Phase Tracing topic for additional details about this. Click to select the appropriate phase.
  3. It may take a moment for the trace to complete, when it does, your display updates automatically to show the trace results.
  4. Your trace results may display in different symbology from the screen shot above according to your Graphical Tracing settings in Trace Options.
  5. Use the Clear Trace Results button to clear your trace results.
