Align Ducts to Grid
- Start by selecting a duct in the Duct Layout tab as your
target duct with which to create the grid from. This selected duct
is referred to as the target duct. To activate the Enable snap to
grid
button.
- Click Enable Snap to grid button and the grid appears in
the Duct Layout Tab. The grid automatically centers on the selected
duct (grid cross hair aligns according to the center of that duct).
The size of the grid is automatically configured in relation to the size of the target duct selected when you click on the Enable Snap to grid button. Selecting a different target duct may create a different grid size.
- Click Configure grid button to display the Configure grid dialog on the Layout Editor pane. Any duct that is already snapped to the grid displays with a double outline as illustrated with Duct G in the image below.
- In the Configure grid section, the Grid size X and Y values can be adjusted to any value larger than 0. Changing these values adjusts the distance between the grid lines making the grid size larger or smaller.
- Click Apply when you have finished changing any of the
Configure grid settings you want to apply to the view.TIP: If you don't like how the new settings look, click Configure grid again to change the settings again.
Setting one of the X or Y values to a small enough number can make it look like there is no space between your grid lines.
- Once your grid settings are as you like, you can move the ducts around the duct bank and they will snap to the intersections of the X and Y grid lines.
- When you have finished snapping the ducts to grid, click Save. The grid lines automatically turn off when you save.
- To turn off the grid lines, click the Enable snap to grid button. When grid lines are already turned on, the tool tip for that button displays as Disable snap to grid.
