Get to Know the Toolbar
The ArcFM toolbar offers a variety of tools grouped logically:
-
Navigate
-
Selection
-
Markups
-
Tracing
-
Network Management
-
Editing
Navigate
The Navigate toolset contains the most popular tools to move around your map. It is the same toolset found on the Map ribbon, but it is provided directly on the ArcFM ribbon for convenience.
-
Hover over any tool icon to learn more about it.
-
Click the Navigation Options
icon in the lower, right-hand corner of the toolset to fine-tune your navigation choices.
Selection
Markups
The Markups toolset is used for map corrections or as-builts on designs. Corrections can be synced from the field or from designers, and then they can be used to update the GIS. See the Markup Information topic for more details.
Tracing
All your network tracing needs are just a click away within the Tracing Toolset. Editor XI provides many helpful traces out of the box:
Further, your company can create Named Traces that are preconfigured to satisfy different use cases (the following image is just an example).
-
Click the Tracing Options
icon in the lower, right-hand corner of the toolset to fine-tune your tracing choices.
Network Management
The Network Management tools offer quick access to stats regarding your network feeders. See the Find a Subnetwork topic to learn more about the toolset.
Editing
The most frequently-used tools to investigate, validate, and edit your features are grouped together in the Editing toolset.
Most of these tools have their own help topics:
ArcFM Options
Click the ArcFM Options icon in the lower right-hand corner of
the toolset to access zoom options and search radius distance.
In the General Option section, provide a zoom buffer distance and buffer unit to change how close the application should zoom in on a feature. The lower the buffer, the closer it zooms in.
-
This buffer dictates the zoom behavior for the following tools:
-
The Find Subnetwork “Zoom to Source” tool
-
The ArcFM Search “Zoom to” tool
-
The Component Information “Zoom to” tool
-
-
This buffer does not change the behavior of the following tools:
-
The ArcGIS Pro “Zoom to Selected” tool
-
The Markups “Zoom to Markup” tool
-
In the Component Info section, you can change the search radius distance. This is the maximum distance from a given feature when searching for possible features to add as content for Assemblies. The unit of measurement is determined by the Zoom buffer unit.
Customize the Ribbon
Have a tool you frequently use, but it is not on the ArcFM ribbon by default? Are there tools taking up precious screen space that you never use? Do you wish the order of tools could be a little different?
You can satisfy all these needs by customizing the ribbon. Go to Project > Options > Customize the Ribbon to control the look and feel of your interface.
