Send to Targets

There are two ways to send a template to the Targets Pane. One way is to create a target by selecting a feature on the map, and the other is to create a target from an existing Esri Template. Both methods are explained in further detail below.

Functionality to come at a later date.

Create Targets from the Map

There are two ways to create targets from the map:

  1. Using the Attribute Viewer.

  2. Right-clicking on a feature on the map.

TIP: When creating a target from a map feature, an Esri Template is also created. The target is then given a default name.

Create a Target From the Attribute Viewer

Navigate to the Attribute pane, then right-click on the feature in the list on the pane and select Send to Targets.

TIP: Editing attributes for targets that were sent to targets from the map or the Esri Attribute pane, updates the attributes in both the Targets pane and the Esri Templates pane.

Once the target is sent, it appears on the Targets pane.

Right-click on the Map to Create a Target

The steps to create a target by right-clicking on the map are almost the same as from the Attribute Viewer to create a target. Instead of right-clicking on a feature in the Attribute Viewer, you instead right-click on the feature in the directly on the map. The feature you want to send to targets must be selected.

From the right-click menu and select Send to Targets. The new target then appears on the Targets pane.

Create Targets from Esri Templates

You can also create a target from the Esri Create Features pane. To do so, search for the template on the Esri Templates tab. Then right-click on the Template and select Send to Targets.

Once the target is sent, it displays on the Targets pane.

When you send an Esri Template to the Targets pane, it behaves a bit differently.

  1. It is displayed in italics on the Target pane.

  2. Edits made on the Target pane are not saved to the Esri Template and only persist on the Target Pane.

  3. You can’t add or delete records to the non-spatial objects table or the relationship class Tables associated to the target.
