ArcFM Search

ArcFM Search provides a way to quickly search and navigate to features based on a set of search criteria previously configured for the Operational Map.

To run a search, select the desired search criteria from the drop-down. Searches in this drop-down are configured in Solution Center and tied to an Operational Map. See the Create Searches topic to learn how to create a search to include in the drop-down list.

The searches in the drop-down are named when they are created in Solution Center. If you can’t tell what’s included in the search by its name, you can see what’s included in the search by selecting it, then hovering over the drop-down until a box pops up displaying the search name and filters applied to the search.

Once you have selected the search you want to run, in the Search For text box, type what you want to want search, then hit Enter. The results display by Asset Type below the Search For textbox and indicates the number of total results. Click the arrow to point down to expand the group of results by each Asset Type.

By default, ArcFM Search searches for anything containing the search string, meaning it will append a wildcard (*) at the beginning and the end of the search string. To specify only to search for criteria beginning or ending with the search string, append a wildcard (*) character to the start or the end of the search. To search for an exact match, use quotation marks to enclose your search string (e.g. "search").

When a search is complete, a list of results is returned along with Select and Zoom buttons. These buttons select or zoom to all features returned in the visible results. When the list of features is expanded, each feature returned also has its own select and zoom to buttons that focus on the individual feature.

The Selection button respects the selection options that can be configured in Options window of ArcGIS Pro.

If the search results contain more than 50 features, the More button is displayed. Clicking this button loads more of the results into the ArcFM Search dock pane. The button is displayed until all results have been rendered.

The search results can be modified to display the Object ID if desired. The default view is to not show the Object D in the results list. Check the box next to Show Object ID to display the Object ID in the results list.
