Attribute Rules

Attribute rules allow you to edit your network and maintain data integrity in an automated way.

The out of the box attribute rules included in the Schneider Electric sample data for Editor XI are constraint type attribute rules. Which means only certain attributes or relationships are allowed on a feature according to the set rules. For additional information about attribute rules, see Esri’s article Introduction to Attribute Rules.

When you try to create a feature that doesn’t meet the attribute rule constraints, you are met with a Failed to create new feature message that includes the rule name, the error number, and an error message.

The out of the box attribute rules included in the sample data are outlined in the table below.

Domain Type

Asset Group

Attribute Rule

Electric

Transformer

Requires the lowside voltage for a transformer to be less than the nominal voltage.

Gas

Service Pipe

Controls the PSI rating and service pipe diameter.

Electric

Electric Distribution Line

Updates the duct flag label when the fields in a spatial conductor are changed, for example, subnetwork name.* (See Tip below.)

Electric

Electric Distribution Edge Object

Updates the duct flag label when the fields in a non-spatial conductor are changed, for example, subnetwork name. (See Tip below.)

TIP: These duct flag attribute rules are used with default configuration of the feature classes and field mapping for Conduit Manager. If you have customizations, the attribute rules might not work properly with your data and may require further customization.
