Amplifier Naming
When placed in a design, amplifier names are derived from the node, leg, cascade count, amplifier number, and power supply names.
Using a node that is named NFDD and a power supply named PW1, the resulting amplifiers placed in the design are named as shown in the following image:
Looking at the name for the first amplifier along Leg A, here are the concatenated components:
As subsequent edits occur, the following rules apply:
-
The amplifier number is assigned at the time of creation. The amplifier maintains this number throughout all subsequent edits. In other words, Amplifier #02 is always #02, even if additional amplifiers are installed upstream of #02.
-
However, if an amplifier is deleted, its amplifier number is used again for the next amplifier added. For example, imagine there are six amplifiers numbered #01 through #06. Then, amplifier #04 is deleted. The next amplifier in the design receives the number #04; it does not receive #07. In other words, DHFC “fills the gaps” of amplifier numbers.

-
The cascade position number can change if subsequent amplifiers are installed upstream. For example, if an amplifier is installed upstream of Amplifier Cascade Position #04, the new amplifier inherits position #04, and the existing amplifier moves to position #05. In other words, while amplifier numbers might not be in an “upstream to downstream” order, cascade position numbers do automatically update to be in “upstream to downstream” order.
-
If an amplifier is disconnected, it maintains its number and is appended with the prefix “D.”
