MDU Footprint Tools
DHFC provides a set of tools to work with multiple dwelling units (MDUs). These tools help you sketch the basic schematics of the building to include floors and other structural elements, such as access rooms. Plus, you can add labels.
For stranding and the RF network, use the standard Place Strand tool
and Place RF Network
tool. There are not separate network sketch
tools inside an MDU. For an example of an installation inside an MDU,
see the topic MDU Workflow.

Description |
---|---|
This tool sketches a rectangular footprint of the MDU. |
This tool “opens” an existing MDU footprint for further editing. View a footprint first to then sketch floors, sketch other structural elements, add labels, or use the Auto Create Strand tool. |
This tool adds line graphics to the inside of the MDU. It is not a stranding tool. Instead, it is used to add helpful sketch elements to the MDU, such as an access room location inside the building. |
This tool adds rectangle graphics to the inside of the MDU. Much like Draw Lines, it is used to add helpful sketch elements to the MDU, such as an access room location inside the building or a floor. |
This tool adds polygon graphics to the inside of the MDU. Much like Draw Rectangle, it is used to add helpful sketch elements to the MDU, such as an access room location inside the building. |
This tool sketches evenly-spaced rectangles in bulk. For example, you could sketch 7 floors at once. It also supports horizontally-oriented sketching, which is helpful to sketch single-story duplexes or triplexes, for example. |
This tool places stranding in bulk. For example, it can place stranding for 7 floors at once. |
This tool adds text to the inside of the MDU. It is helpful for labeling floors or adding other notes, such as the access room name or number. |
This tool lets you edit existing sketch or text elements. It is helpful for correcting a previously-sketched shape or text. |
