Tracing Capabilities

To access the Designer HFC tracing tool in ArcMap, you must first install the ArcFM Tools for Designer HFC application. This installation includes a Designer HFC Trace Tool that provides you with several powerful tracing options available in ArcMap.

Perform a Trace

  1. Select a component(s) from which you want to start a trace. In the following example, the node and power supply are selected.
  2. View the components available in Attribute Editor. These are all the components in your selection set.
  3. To start a trace from the CoaxNode, access the trace tools by right-clicking the component.
  4. Select Trace Coax Power Downstream to run a downstream trace on the network from the component you selected. The map changes to highlight the trace path.
  5. Based on the component from which you choose to trace, the component displays in the Designer HFC Trace Tool window.
  6. Clicking on an item in the Results tab highlights the item in the map, which can be seen in the following two examples:
  7. To highlight, zoom, or pan, right-click the component in the trace tool window and select an option from the drop-down list.
  8. If you perform a downstream trace from a component with one or more ports, a flag is placed at the origin of the trace.
